Grammatical errors and misspellings can make you look clueless or careless. And we know you’re not either one! So download this handy PDF, or print it and keep it near your desk, so you don’t make some of the most common writing mistakes.

Our intention is not to be snobby, by the way, but rather to make us all better communicators. We hope you’ll appreciate the document in the spirit in which it was written. It has definitely stirred up a lot of hilarious conversation at the ShortStack office.

Oh, and by the way, when we were working on this project we learned about a phenomenon called Hartman’s Law of Prescriptivist Retaliation (we know, right?). Basically the law holds that when writing about punctuation and grammar, it is inevitable that the writer will make an error in….punctuation and grammar. We worked really hard to avoid errors but if you find one, please forgive us. We’re only human.
