The wide-ranging use of plastic and its enormous benefit have been well documented. We use it every day and for almost anything. Most plastics are durable and degrade very slowly, but their slow decomposition rate and resistance to most natural processes of degradation have led to serious environmental concerns. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch (top image) is one example of what plastics can do to human and aquatic life. This infographic by Custom Made highlights the environmental concerns and what we are doing about them.
