The greatest fiction inspires the imagination and gives new insight into real, everyday, life. Sometimes, the popular fiction found in comics and movies is so inspiring, it motivates dedicated fans to make the fantastic a reality.
These six real-life vehicles are a perfect example of that. Now, we’re just waiting for the Silver Surfer’s flying board.
1. The Homemade Batmobile
Topping the list is this incredible homemade creation. Inspired by the 1989 Batman movie, this car is powered by a giant turbine engine.
The most amazing thing about this car? It’s actually street legal!
2. The DeLorean Hovercraft
The DeLorean DMC-12 was made famous by the Back to the Future franchise. In those films, the mad inventor, Dr. Emmet Brown, is constantly redesigning and improving his greatest creation: An actual time machine built on the DeLorean chasis.
Matthew Riese, it turns out, is a real-life maker cast in Doc Brown’s image. Funded by Kickstarter, he created this incredible DeLorean hovercraft that has to be seen to be believed.
3. Walking Dead Ultimate Zombie Fighter
Walking Dead, really, is about more than killing zombies. Human drama, personal conflict, isolation versus community, leadership, human adaptation, compassion in the face of adversity, and more heady themes all get some time to shine. But, at the end of the day, a world filled with zombies is going to require some frequent head-bashing.
And that’s where this ultimate zombie fighter, debuted at this year’s Comic-Con comes into play. The modified Hyundai Elantra Coupe was designed by Walking Dead Creator Robert Kirkman himself.
4. Street-Legal Tron Lightcycle
Cool cars may be common in movies, but it’s rare that a science-fiction flick is defined by amazing rides. Tron, both the original and rebooted versions, is the exception.
Indeed, the only thing cooler than seeing the light cycles racing on the big screen would be catching one flashing down the street in real life. If you’re near this street-legal creation, that might be a possibility.
5. Tron-Inspired Twin Turbo Camaro
Did the actors cruise in light-Camaro’s in Tron? I don’t think so, but come on: You have to admit the films would be a lot cooler if they did.
Electric Blue Exotic has built this incredible Tron-inspired Camaro for cruising the streets of Beverly Hills.
6. Batman’s Street-Legal Batpod
Finally, we return to Batman. Sure, everyone knows the Batmobile is the coolest thing on four wheels. The only thing that could trump it would be a real-life, street-legal, Batpod.
That’s right, the guys at Chopper City USA put their skills to the test to create this incredible chopper, straight from the movies.
