The Earth’s oceans take up 70 percent of our planet and are a source of constant fascination yet, despite this, much of the life in our oceans remains a mystery to us.

We have made some new discoveries about the Earth’s oceans recently, such as how life first evolved in them, and the fact that many millions of years ago they were essentially giant acidic baths.

We celebrate World Oceans Day every 8 June (sometimes with GIFs), and rightly so, considering they take up 70 percent of the planet and produce 70 percent of the oxygen we breathe.

Taking their appreciation of our oceans to a new level, the guys over at Nature’s Water produced the below infographic, revealing many of the facts, and mysteries, surrounding marine life.
