There are many reasons why someone would attempt to get something deemed illegal through airport security or international borders; this could be something as simple as a 40 year-old bottle of Scotch and you’re just trying to avoid the liquid-restrictions.
Unfortunately not everything that gets smuggled is as ordinary as a bottle of Scotch. Items are smuggled everyday for personal or organisational financial gain, ignoring possible harm to innocent creatures or even considering the harm a smuggled product like heroin could do.
