People travel all over the world, often visiting cities along the way. After all, these tend to be where most of the tourist attractions and sights seem to be. When you’re marvelling at the Colosseum in Rome, or you’re looking out at the view from the Empire State Building in New York, you’ve probably never given much thought as to where these places get their names from. But don’t worry, as we didn’t think many people had.
Our latest infographic explores the meanings behind place names of cities all over the world. For example, did you know that Abu Dhabi actually means ‘Father of the Gazelle’?
