The above are amazing photos of the Rho Ophiuchi cloud, a dark nebula about 400 light-years distant near the southern edge of the constelleation Ophiuchus.
The Rho Ophiuci cloud complex is one of the nearest star-forming regions to Earth and as you can see on these beautiful images, the entire region is filled with stars!
Many of these stars are newly formed stars whose average age is estimated to be a mere 300,000 years. That's extremely young compared to the Sun's age of 5 billion years.
