The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) recently published a list of the 25 top most hacked passwords.
Note that IC3 is American-based and some of the passwords are American or English names. So to put it in the local context, just replace them with any Malaysian name (own, family's, friends', things, places, animals, etc) that we often use as passwords, and you should get the idea. If you are using any of these, maybe it’s time to rethink that strategy.
Incidently, for those who are using Streamyx, how many of you are still using the default password provided by TM. If you are, please change it quickly. Otherwise, someone could easily use your computer or your IP address. Also change your wireless password if your modem has a wireless connection. Although I'm sure many of us know this by now, still there are many others who have not.

An Internet site who manages passwords recently posted an article pertaining to the lack of secure passwords being utilized which may be a factor in data breaches — past, present, and future. One reason for the lack of security is the amount of passwords a user is required to remember to access the many databases, applications, multiple networks, etc., used on a daily basis. Sharing passwords among users in a workplace is becoming a common theme to continue the flow of operations. Users have prioritized convenience over security when establishing passwords.
