The 2012 Global Peace Index (GPI) was released online on 12 June 2012 by the Vision of Humanity website. The 2012 GPI is the world’s leading measure of global peacefulness.
Produced by the Institute for Economics and Peace, the GPI ranks 158 nations using 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators which gauge on-going domestic and international conflict, safety and security in society and militarization.
As we can see from the above two maps, Malaysia is coloured yellow which means it’s among the most peaceful countries in the world.
Based on the 2012 GPI Map with Rankings and Scores, as reproduced below, Malaysia is ranked 2o. In fact we are ranked higher than Singapore and such other western countries as USA, United Kingdom, France, Netherlands, and Australia.
The following is a table showing Malaysia as measured against 23 indicators that make up the GPI. As we can see, the one clear blemish is “Violent Demonstrations” indicator. And we all know who are responsible, don’t we?
To learn more, view the Vision of Humanity's interactive GPI map. To view the above table, click Malaysia on the interactive map.
To those who are still bent on wrecking havoc on our beloved country, view the above links, then pause and think. Are you still bent on destroying the peace that we have enjoyed for half a century?
Thanks to Buzz Feed for publishing the GPI report and links.
Nice blog.
ReplyDeleteAs for the GPI ranking, it is a reflection of our maturing country, higher level of education and blossoming awareness of citizen rights, equal opportunity to education, employment even wealth that at times leads to demonstrations.
Peace and order are treasured by all. Just as corruption, unfair policies and entrenched dictatorships are hated by all.
Agree with you, except for the motives behind the demonstrations, plus the unruly behaviour of the demonstrators. There are many alternative, legal avenues they could have pursued.
DeleteNice blog you have there. Thank you for your comment.

Always refreshing to see our country is ranked highly by the international community. We are first world country by infrastructures and economy but I still feel we are somewhat 3rd world mentality when it comes to public order.
