This week we've got a couple of weird climate-related pics to go along with the great feature on the subject we ran earlier. That, plus: humpback whales en flagrante, an arctic blue marble, virtual reality, and pizza delivery. Check it out!
1. Glowing Jellies |
Part of the American Natural History Museum's "Creatures of Light" exhibit, the crystal jellyfish, Aequorea victoria, flashes green when it's touched. Read more here. |
2. Planets to Scale |
So this is an interactive one and you'll have to click through to XKCD to get the full effect, but it's still a really cool infographic. Those are all of the planets we know, to scale. (Ours is small.)

3. Whales Doing It |
This is the first time two humpback whales have ever been seen during mating. It is majestic and has led to several very good jokes. Read more here.

4. Algae Lake |

6. It's What We're Livin' In |
Canon, makers of fine cameras and other photography wares, showed off a new "Mixed Reality" headset. It sounds bonkers. Read more about it here. |
7. Wire Glasses |
There hasn't been a ton of innovation in eyewear design lately, but as genuine nerds who all wear glasses, we here at PopSci are excited about this design - infinitely adjustable, with no screws or hinges at all. Read more here.

8. Stellar Nursery |
The ESO's Very Large Telescope snapped this image (well, "snapped" isn't quite right, but you get the idea) of NGC 6357, a stellar nursery about 8,000 light-years away. Read more here.

9. Bike Routes |
This simulation, created with GPS trails, shows the routes taken by cycling pizza delivery drivers on one night in Manhattan. It's a tough job! Not least because riding a bike in Manhattan is pretty much exactly like driving a taxi in Crazy Taxi. Read more here.

10. Blue Marble, Arctic |
We love "blue marble" pics. This one's more of a white marble, though, seeing as it was taken with the arctic circle on top. Read more here.
