1. Mango Festival, India
A priest arranges an offering of mangoes for the Hindu god Lord Krishna during a mango festival in the western Indian city of Ahmedabad. During India's mango season - around March to June - the so-called King of Fruits is widely sold, celebrated, and, of course, eaten.
2. Grand Canyon Skywalk, Arizona, USA
For a view of the Grand Canyon like no other, brave visitors don shoe-covering booties and venture out on the Skywalk, a glass-bottomed balcony suspended 4,000 feet over the canyon floor. The Skywalk is just outside Grand Canyon National Park and run by the Hualapi Tribe on their reservation site at Grand Canyon West.
3. Morro dos Prazeres, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Boys play Brazil's national pastime on a soccer field in the Morro des Prazeres favela in Rio de Janeiro. The spot overlooks Pão de Açúca, or Sugarloaf Mountain, and Guanabara Bay.
4. Mayon Volcano, Philippines
A perch on Lignon Hill in Legazpi gives a perfect view of Mayon, a strato-volcano on Luzon, the largest island in the Philippines. Mayon is the country's most active volcano; its earliest recorded eruption was in 1616 and its most recent was in 2010.
5. Standing Stones, Galicia, Spain
Standing stones called menhirs spike the coast of northwestern Spain in Galicia. The 1994 installation by Galician artist Manolo Paz pays tribute to the Celtic people who once inhabited much of Europe, including northern Spain.
6. Marsalforn Salt Pans, Malta
Salt pans, believed to have been used for harvesting sea salt since Roman times, stretch straight to the Mediterranean outside the village of Marsalforn on the island of Gozo. The second largest island in the Maltese archipelago, Gozo is known for its scenic countryside, beautiful beaches, and many churches.
7. Cenote Near Tulum, Mexico
A diver explores a cenote near the Maya ruins of Tulum in Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. Ancient Maya believed that cenotes and caves were mouths that opened into an otherworld inhabited by Chaak, the god of life-giving rain.
8. Monemvasia, Greece
The octagonal Agia Sophia (Church of Holy Wisdom) overlooks the Aegean in Monemvasia, a town at the top of a rocky island off Peloponnesus. Walking Monemvasia's Byzantine streets is like going back in time: Cars are forbidden and must be left at the entrance bridge.
9. Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, USA
A rainbow frames Civil War re-enactors at Gettysburg National Military Park in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. As the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg is commemorated this year, tourists are flocking to the site of one of the war's most important and well-known battles.
10. Calanque d'En Vau, France
We asked our Facebook fans what their favourite summer water spots are. Esme Weatherwax offered hers: "Calanque d'En Vau near Marseille, France."
Calanque d'En Vau is an inlet surrounded by steep cliffs; climbers take to the rocks while sunbathers spread out on the sandy beach. D'En Vau is one of several calanques in the south of France.
