Scientists have found out how bacteria have become resistant to drugs, and we are now already talking about a post-antibiotic world. How is this possible? Researchers from Harvard Medical School and Technion-Israel Institute of Technology have now demonstrated - in experiments on a gigantic petri dish - how bacteria mutates to become resistant to drugs. The experiments provide the first large-scale glimpse of the maneuvers of bacteria as they encounter increasingly higher doses of antibiotics and adapt to survive - and thrive - in them.
