In a remote Arctic island lies Svalbard Global Seed Vault (sometimes called the "Doomsday Vault"), a facility where all of the world's seeds are securely stored. They are meant to replace seeds from the world's seed banks in case these facilities are damaged by man-made or natural calamities.
