VIDEO: IS THERE A MAMAK CARTEL?

New Picture (11)
As a subscriber to TM.net, I regularly receive emails which bring a variety of local news. Today there was news about The Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), and included was a report entitled The Mamak Cartel controls our Teh Tarik:
The Mamak Cartel controls our Teh Tarik - April 04,2012
Why are food prices going up? What is inflation? These are the questions answered simply by Kopitiam Ekonomi using the teh tarik as an example. Teh tarik in particular is essentially Malaysian. It cuts across race, social strata and politics. We'll never elect a PM who doesn't drink teh tarik, that's just un-Malaysian!
The teh tarik example goes to show that YES, food prices are up because of some good reasons - additional value, fluctuations in cost and increased demands. Is there really a cartel controlling our teh tarik price?
Watch the video!
The video was uploaded by Pemandu ETP. The video link given by TM.net has an image at the top with the question: IS THERE A MAMAK CARTEL - A GODFATHER WHO CONTROLS THE PRICE OF YOUR TEH TARIK? (as in the image at the top of this post).

That's the question posed, and dealt with, by the video presenter. Watch the video given by TM.net here or at YouTube as shown below:

Notwithstanding the explanation given at the end of the video, there have actually been rumours and coffee shop talks about this Mamak Cartel. So, is there really a Mamak Cartel?
