For some people, the ideal getaway is rid of technology, like a digital detox summer camp. For others, the mere thought of parting from a smartphone is utter madness.

If you happen to fall in the later category, you prioritize tech amenities when booking your time away from home - a hotel that understands tech is a definite perk.

These nine hotels put high-tech first: Think iPad concierges, paperless billing, robotic luggage handlers and infrared doorbell detectors, so housekeeping knows not to disturb. If you relish the though of checking into your next hotel via touchscreen, consider a stay at one of these hotels.

1. Peninsula Hotel Tokyo

From bedside curtain controls to nail polish dryers (yes, those are a thing), The Peninsula in Tokyo has thought of every amenity to make your stay memorable. Think you've heard of it all? The TV even mutes when the room phone rings.

2. The Torch Doha

If one colour mood lighting isn't enough, you may enjoy The Torch Doha's choice of 12 in each room. You'll also find interactive LED TVs and a tablet for ordering room service in your suite.

3. Hotel Zetta San Francisco

If the upcycled floppy disk artwork doesn't convince you this hotel is perfect for tech lovers, perhaps the 46-inch smart TVs will. Each room also includes a G-Link docking station, which lets you stream video from your smartphone to your room's TV.

4. Andaz by Hyatt

Upon you arrival at any of Hyatt's boutique line of Andaz hotels, a concierge will greet you with an iPad. He or she will check you into your room, process your payment and take your signature via tablet.

5. The Upper House Hong Kong

Swire Hotels' Hong Kong establishment, The Upper House, is entirely paperless. It uses iPads for guest registration, concierge services and payment processing. But the tech isn't just for the hotel staff - as a guest, you'll find an iPod touch in your hotel room, as well.

6. Aria Las Vegas

The Aria Las Vegas uses RFID (radio-frequency identification) to improve your stay. When you flash your key over the lock reader for the first time, the RFID will part the curtains and turn on the TV, so you can choose your settings.

7. JW Marriott Hotel Seoul

JW Marriott's Seoul location, as well as a number of other branches, boasts the amenities of a business traveller's dreams. The presidential suite features five phones with two lines.

8. theWit Hotel Chicago

In addition to boasting some of the best views of downtown Chicago, the Roof on theWit hotel is a tech lover's dream. A massive 3D surface projection system creates optical illusions using video mapping imagery. Prefer to people watch at another party? The Roof even has a telescope for sneaking peeks into neighbouring buildings.

9. Yotel New York

Times Square's Yotel, home of the world's only robotic luggage concierge, is the hotel of the future. Among the heated towel drying racks, the convertible bed/sofas and the person-free check-in process, you'll feel caught in a time machine.
