Automatic Turns Cars Into Smart Cars

It’s hard not to get envious of all the fancy applications smartphone users have access to when being a motorist driving a fairly straight-forward car. Sure, your stereo might have buttons with obscure usage and maybe you even have a state-of-the-art entertainment centre right in the centre console. But really, what else can you do? To answer to these ‘appified’ needs of the contemporary motorist, Automatic is all you would ever want to know about your car in one simple smart device.

Cars are pretty archaic things compared to the rocket science going on in our smartphones. When the service light comes on, it cannot tell you what is wrong or tell you what to do about it. Unfortunately a trip to the mechanic is all there is left. But now, thanks to Automatic, those days are over. Plug the smart device into the data port of your car, download the app, and all of a sudden everything your four-wheeled buddy does makes perfect sense.

Automatic is not only a very clear way to see what’s going on under the belly of your automobile, it also shows what you can do to improve the efficiency of your driving and tells you everything you possibly need to know when something seems to be up. Most importantly, it does all of this in a way that is understandable for the average user, something that most previous attempts to a smart car device didn’t keep in mind.

The implications of a car with all the possibilities of a smartphone app are staggering, not even taking in account future updates and additions to the functionality that Automatic already offers. When Automatic launches, it will offer automatic 911 crash calls, parking spot reminders, driving feedback, trip timelines and much more. All of this functionality works on a broad selection of cars, even (and maybe most importantly) cars that didn’t have access to such functionality in the first place. It is like getting a new car without actually having to buy one, which is a very exciting prospect for us!

Automatic is only supported in the U.S. for the moment, but the manufacturer is looking at expanding to European countries in the near future as well. Be sure to check out if your car is supported on the pre-order page and prepare to conduct your car into the future.
