There is nothing better than going out in the sun and taking a few pictures that look great so that you can upload them on Instagram or Pinterest.

However, when the camera or your cell phone runs out of battery after all that texting, you will have no option but to wistfully think to yourself how beautiful the locale is but do not have charge in your battery to take pictures. Superheadz Japan has announced Sun & Cloud, which is a self-powered digital camera.

In fact, Sun & Cloud is the world’s first self-powered digital camera which uses solar energy to charge itself. It comes with a solar panel on top of the device and it charges completely when under the sun. Moreover, the unit can also be charged manually with a hand crank via kinetic energy. If you are too lazy to do that, it even comes with a USB cable so that you can charge/connect to a computer.

The Sun & Cloud comes with a 3 megapixel sensor and can take pictures in 3 different modes. The normal mode can take pictures within 150 cm range and the portrait mode can take pictures between the 60 and 150 centimetres range.

The macro range can take pictures in 25 to 35 cm range. With a video capture of up to 30 FPS and a built in mic, you can take videos of all those funny outdoor trips without worrying about battery running out of charge in your smartphone. I must say this is one of the coolest and most functional devices that I have come across.

We had also written a post about how you can Convert Your SLR Camera to Pinhole Camera. The Busbi Digital Video Camera is a great device that you should take a look at. The Olympus Camera Cake is great for those who have a sweet tooth and can’t stop munching on something sugary.
