Technology has become such a part of our everyday lives that all too often we feel empty without it. If you add up the cost of all the gadgets in your house it would probably come to quite a bit - but I've got a feeling that some of the laptops in today's list cost more than your average household's entire technology selection, all on their own.
You know that dreaded feeling like you've been punched in the stomach and your feet are made of stone when you think you've lost your cell phone? Well, imagine what it must feel like to misplace the most expensive laptop in the world!
If you enjoyed this list you might be interested in reading about the best laptop brands in the world. From customer support to battery technology and other innovations, these are the go-to brands for your laptop needs.
10. Rock Xtreme SL8
Price: US$5,500
Manufacturer: Rock
Manufacturer: Rock
Despite the fact that this laptop has a name that sounds like some sort of hiking equipment, it's actually a quality piece of technology. For average people like you and me, this laptop probably offers more than enough in terms of functionality - even if it does cost US$5,500! It's brilliant for gamers, though, as it's been described as the fastest personal laptop in the world.
Amongst other things, it boasts a massive memory, a 17 inch screen with a brilliant resolution and an Intel Core 2 Quad processor (for those few who know what that actually means!). On top of all that, it has Blu-ray functionality, meaning that films look great on it! What more could you ask for from a laptop? Apart from a cheaper price tag, that is...
9. Stealth MacBook Pro
Price: US$6,000
Manufacturer: Apple
Manufacturer: Apple
This limited edition laptop from Apple is unlike most of their bright white technology which we're used to seeing. The Stealth MacBook Pro is sleek, black and there are only a limited number available. It's made using SofTouch technology, which makes it stand out from the crowd amongst its competitors.
The screen is disappointingly small at only 13.3 inches - you'd expect something bigger when you're paying this much! That said, you do get an Intel i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and an Intel Iris graphics card for superior gaming for your money. However, Apple products are usually majorly over-priced, and I can't help but feel that this laptop is no different. It'll set you back six big ones.
8. Origin EON18
Price: US$6,500
Manufacturer: Origin PC
Manufacturer: Origin PC
The EON18 is the first laptop produced from the Origin brand. Even the starting price is high enough to raise your blood pressure; it starts at just over US$2,000, but you're looking at nearer US$6,500 for a fully configured laptop. Its main benefit is that its processing speed is remarkably quick, as it contains an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300 processor. Hell, if it's called 'Extreme', you know it's got to be good. Despite all of this, this laptop does have a downside - its sound quality. It seems that expecting good audio from a US$6,500 laptop is just too much to ask for!
7. Falcon Northwest Fragbook DRX
Price: US$6,500
Manufacturer: Falcon Northwest
Manufacturer: Falcon Northwest
The Falcon Northwest Fragbook DRX has been described as being like a desktop computer in the body of a laptop. It isn't the most elegant or stylish laptop, but we can't all be blessed in the looks department! However, it does have a super-fast 3.3GHz processor, which can give Speedy Gonzalez a run for his money! It also has a very impressive graphics card, which is ideal for gamers. Aside from these features, I feel like this laptop doesn't offer as much as some of the other, lower-priced laptops on this list...but it comes with a US$6,500 price tag. Is it really worth paying so much for? I don't plan on being the one to find out!
6. Voodoo Envy H171
Price: US$8,500
Manufacturer: Voodoo
Manufacturer: Voodoo
The fact that this laptop comes in 24 different designs makes it all the more appealing to look at, although it's already one of the best looking laptops on this list. Its screen is impressively big at 17 inches - in fact, everything about it is big. Its memory sits at 80GB, but this can be expanded up to 250GB, and it has 4GB of RAM. Considering that this Voodoo Envy H171 laptop also has an impressive NVIDIA graphics card, it's one of the most appealing laptops we've seen so far in terms of performance. Of course, that also means that it's one of the most expensive, costing US$8,500.
5. Ego for Bentley Laptop
Price: US$20,000
Manufacturer: Ego Lifestyle
Manufacturer: Ego Lifestyle
From the Voodoo, it's quite a jump in price up to the Ego for Bentley laptop. This one costs a cool US$20,000. It's made in the style of a handbag, so it's more for people who are concerned about style than technology! It might be covered with leather, but this doesn't make up for the fact that it only has a 12 inch screen, and a tiny 2GB of RAM. In terms of technology, it's definitely not value for money, but quite frankly, it's not really value for money in terms of style, either. I'm struggling to see why anyone would pay US$20,000 of their hard-earned cash for this, when they could buy any one of the other, superior laptops on this list, and a separate designer handbag to put it in!
4. Gold MacBook Pro
Price: US$30,000
Manufacturer: Apple
Manufacturer: Apple
What can you get for the person who has it all? How about a completely gold-plated Apple MacBook Pro, with multi-coloured diamonds making up the Apple logo on the top? Yep, that's right - 53 diamonds, each weighing in at 12.5 carats, are set on the top of a shiny gold laptop. Much like the Ego for Bentley laptop, this one is pretty much just for showing off; it's not worth the money you pay for it.
It's disappointing in terms of processing speeds and functionality, especially when compared to most of the others on this list, but its style is quite striking! That said, if I had a spare US$30,000, would I splash out on a diamond-encrusted, gold-plated laptop? Probably. If you've got it, flaunt it!
3. Tulip E-Go Diamond Laptop
Price: US$355,000
Manufacturer: Ego Lifestyle
Manufacturer: Ego Lifestyle
It's easy to see the similarities between this laptop and the Ego for Bentley laptops, so it's no surprise that they're made by the same company. However, apart from a much higher price, this Tulip E-Go Diamond laptop doesn't actually offer anything more. It also has a disappointing 12 inch screen and just 2GB of RAM, which is no better than an ordinary laptop that the average person like you or me may buy.
Again, it's all about looks. This laptop is supposed to look like a lady's handbag, complete with a handle to carry it, and the covers are interchangeable, coming a range of different styles. Costing a staggering US$355,000, I'd hazard a guess that this laptop is aimed at the high society wives who expect to be showered with expensive, statement gifts from their rich, successful husbands!
2. MacBook Air Platinum
Price: US$486,616
Manufacturer: Apple
Manufacturer: Apple
We've seen the Gold MacBook Pro, and now Apple is going one step better with the MacBook Air Platinum. 7kg of platinum makes this pretty much the sleekest, most stylish laptop that money can buy. And you'll need a hell of a lot of money to be able to do so! Coming in at US$486,616, it really does beg the question of whether a laptop is worth that much money. This is especially true when considering the last few laptops on the list! However, Apple have really delivered in both the style and performance stakes.
This may be the most expensive MacBook ever made, but it does come with 8GB of RAM and one terabyte of storage space. That's the most we've seen on this list so far! This is the first laptop on the list which is seriously impressive in all departments - for those who have more money than they know what to do with, this would probably be a fairly wise purchase!
1. Luvaglio
Price: US$1,000,000
Manufacturer: Luvaglio
Manufacturer: Luvaglio
Yep, you read that correctly. With Luvaglio, we've clocked in at US$1,000,000. One million dollars. For a laptop. The world's gone mad, right? Well...right, and wrong. A million dollars seems like a ludicrous amount of money to pay for a piece of technology, but it's not just any old piece of techno-junk. I can't tell you about any of the specifications of this laptop, because it doesn't have any. That is to say that each is unique, made entirely to the customer's personal specifications. The same can be said for the outer casing, which can come in smart wood, shiny metal and even more. However, these aren't the limits of this laptop's style. It has buttons made from diamonds - even the power button is sparkly!
In terms of customer service, Luvaglio is unrivalled. It seems that this laptop really does offer everything you could possibly want (even software upgrades at any point), and lacks nothing. You'd have to be serious about buying one, as they have to check that you are actually able to afford it during the order-processing stage, but you do get a lot for your money. For me and my lifestyle, laptops aren't worth spending more than a couple hundred dollars on. But for the super-rich and famous, spending this million dollars is worth every penny!
